The Parents’ Learning Centre

Here in the Parents’ Learning Centre, your professional development opportunities have been organized into five main areas.

1. Resource Services

The Provincial Schools Resource Services Department provides a range of services to families and school boards in support of students who are blind, deafblind, low-vision, Deaf, hard of hearing or who have a severe learning disability.

Our programs include workshops, on-line learning opportunities and early intervention programs designed to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and ideas so that students across the province are able to achieve their full academic potential.

Parents may be particularly interested in the Early Intervention/Pre-school Program, or the Homevisiting Program.

2. SNOW for Parents

The Provincial Schools are proud to partner with the Adaptive Technology Resource Centre to bring you the SNOW website. (Special Needs Ontario Window).

http://snow.utoronto.ca

The SNOW site is an award winning online community with ideas, forums, workshops, videos, articles, research and best practices related to special education in Ontario. The Provincial Schools Branch of the Ministry of Education has been contributing to the growth and development of SNOW for ten years.

Of special interest to parents will be the “Kids, Parents and Community Section”, and the area devoted to parents.

3. Links

In addition to the SNOW site, the Links section has a wealth of links to information and online learning opportunities available on the web.

4. Workshops

Parents are invited to participate in Provincial Schools workshops.
